Watermelon Vase

Since the 4th of July falls on a Wednesday this year,    I think we'll just celebrate all week....lol!

For our celebration tonight,    I made a centerpiece for the front porch farmhouse table using a watermelon as a vase.

A watermelon vase is so easy to make........

Once you have all the melon cleaned out,    find a bowl that's just the right size to fit in the hole.    Fill your bowl with water and add fresh flowers.

There was quite a bit of meat in this watermelon......enough to fill a bowl,    the top of the watermelon,   and a ceramic watermelon.

I cut fresh mint from the herb garden to garnish my melon bowls and make Mojito's

I printed a mini banner to pin across my watermelon vase.

I thought it need a little more than the mini banner,   so I added a Farmers Market sign.

I didn't use the traditional colors for my floral design.......

I wanted to use all different colors of flowers.......

But the majority of flowers I had in bloom were shades of purple......

SO,    that's what I used!

I am using a watermelon theme on the front porch for the 4th so it will fit right in with everything else!   If you missed my posts on the front porch decor.....here's a link to it......http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2018/06/watermelon-decor-for-4th-of-july.html
