Christmas Utility Room

The utility room is one of the most hardworking and necessary rooms in our home.   I'm in and out of the utility room all day long,    so I have tried to turn it into a happy place rather than just somewhere to do the laundry.

I  decorate it for the seasons and holidays just like I do the rest of our home.

Come on in and I'll show you around........

At least one load of laundry is done in here nearly every day.......

But my utility room is so much more than just a place to do the laundry.......

This is my desk!
About 10 years ago,    I got tired of waiting for my turn in the bathroom to put on my make up and do my hair.    So,   I moved all my stuff to the utility room desk and have been happy there ever since.

I have also been known to sit in the sun and read or do some sewing and crafts.    I usually just do a little hand work,   but I have a portable sewing machine in the closet that I can sit on the desk.

I always enjoy your visits so much.   thank you for dropping by to see my Christmas utility room......come back soon!

  1. Wow your laundry room looks so pretty and happy! I love the way you have everything hidden and you can sit and do your makeup and hair! Yay.

  2. I always decorated my laundry room,too...not so much in this house we are renting as we wait to find our new home. xo Diana

  3. Absolutely adorable. I think I'll take another look at my laundry room.

  4. Good morning Penny, You have such talent and make everything pretty and happy. I would love to have a large utility room. I think every home should have a large one to keep things out of sight and have extra storage like you do. I have seen them with mud rooms in them too which keeps the home cleaner which I really love. Yours is wonderful.
    Thank you for sharing.

  5. I love that you have a place of your own...cause let's face it most men are not going to do laundry. Plus having your make up there is really nice. I love that room. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. Penny, with each post to your blog I always take a big sigh and immediately get lost in your photos of your beautiful home. I have taken some decorating ideas from you and did them in my own home and I want to thank you for sharing your decorating talent with all of us. I just love blending shabby chic/romantic with farmhouse!

  7. What a fantastic place to do laundry.
    Blessings, Danw

  8. Penny! What a bright and sunny, happy laundry room!!! Will definitely be featuring at this week's Share Your Style #234. Thank you for sharing it. Love your desk nestled in there, too. <3

Happy Christmas season to you and Mr. H,
    Barb :)

  9. Penny, you just amaze me! And you inspire me--I realize I leave my laundry room neglected, and now I want to add some fun Christmas decor to it. Thank you!

  10. Penny,
Love this sweet room and how you have decorated it!! I blow dry my hair in the Powder Room downstairs....It comes from working night shift and getting up right before work so in an attempt not to wake up the boys when they were small, I would do my hair downstairs and it just stuck....

It makes my day to hear from my friends!
