Room Changes for under $10

I wanted to challenge my self to see what changes I could make in  a room for less than $10....this is what I came up with!

  I have quite a large "stock pile" of sheets that I have bought at auctions, yard sales, & estate sales.   (I try not to pay over $1 for a sheet)
The first thing I did was rip a pink full size sheet into strips.    I used part of the strips to make a rag garland for the door in the corner of the sun room and you will see further down in the post what I did with the other strips.    I tied the 2-3 inch strips to a piece of twine.   I then tied the ends of the twine around a screw at each end of the wood Home Sweet Home plaque that was already hanging on the door.

 The other sheet that I used to make the rag garland was a pink and cream striped king bottom fitted sheet.   I cut about 12 inches off both sides of the sheet (the stretchy part)  I then cut those pieces into 4" strips and tied them (in a bow) onto my garland.   The flat center part of the sheet that was left  is being used as my table cloth......it's a pretty large piece,  so I have it folded in half.   So ....the cost of my garland and tablecloth....$2.

Now  to show you the chair "slip covers"  
I found 2 small table runners and 13....yes 13 place mats.....all for $5 at an estate sale.    I used the left over strips from the pink full size sheet to tie the place mats to the fronts, backs,  and seats of the chairs.   I have one of the small table runners on the table and I will show you the other one in a later post.

When I saw these place mats at the estate sale,  I didn't know what I would do with them.    I love the Victorian print, so I knew I could use them somewhere!    

I chose simple white dishes to do a table scape for my new corner of the sun room.

I am planning to serve a small salad in the milk glass tea cups,  but I haven't bought the salad stuff yet...lol!

So,  to give you the idea of how the salad will look.....I filled each cup with a little green succulent plant!

  I planted several clumps of these hardy succulents around the base of our maple tree where nothing else will grow!

Well,  there you have it....my under $10 makeover.....$5 for the slipcovers and $2 for the tablecloth and rag garland!
