Sunflowers Attack Potting Shed

We planted a wildflower garden on the west side of the Potting Shed this spring.   The bag of seed indicated that none of the flowers would be over 5' tall.......hummmmm.... these sunflowers are about twice that size.

The plants are top heavy and have fell over .....they are just laying on the shed......and that poor hanging asparagus fern!

There is a path to the porch that is now blocked by the!    Next year I will be more careful about what I plant there!
I wanted to show you this pumpkin and sunflower field that is about a mile from our house.....
If you look close at the ground you can see the pumpkins.
We have quite a few fields in our area,  and they are just now beginning to harvest them.    The heads on these sunflowers are pretty big....about 12-18 inches across.   I want to plant some of this kind in our garden next year!
Thanks for stopping by......come back soon!

  5. Thanks for sharing these marvellous fields!

  6. Penny, I had lots of sunflowers like that reseed in my front yard. I have been slowly pulling them out as they topple over. I had one come back with a huge head, but the others were all small. Still very fun for a while. I have seen lots of fields of sunflowers like that when vacationing in both CA and Canada. They really are a beautiful site! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
