We painted our dark wood kitchen cabinets....years....and years ago |
We painted the outside .....not the inside! So as long as the doors were shut, the kitchen looked all light and bright, but open one of those doors and it was a different story! |
I added some "pocket doilies" to the doors to hold small pot holders. I just stapled the doily to the door in a pocket shape and inserted a pot holder in the "envelope". |
Doesn't it look great....wish I had done it earlier! |
Penny I love the fabric idea, can they be changed out for seasons? This is quite the project, but perfect for the Winter months.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is just adorable! I wish I had seen your idea before we got new cabinets, I was up to trying anything. Unfortunately ours are too new to try this now (but I will keep it in mind for the years to come!). And the pockets for the potholders? Just precious! I would leave my cupboard doors open all the time! Just gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteBonsoir,
ReplyDeleteUne cuisine magnifique semblable à une belle bonbonnière...
Gros bisous ♡
Hi Penny! Oh, this looks great! I love what you did to the backs of your doors too! The fabric is so pretty and the little doily pockets are genius! I love your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia:)
Love the fabric inside the kitchen cabinets ! Such a fun idea !
ReplyDeletePainting the interiors did make a big difference. Liked the lining of inside as well.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteClever idea! The fabrics are stunning and very romantic.

Love the fabric on the inside of the doors...sooo darn cute! This is right up our mom's alley....only there would be a LOT of ruffles on the inside as well lol! We are going to pin this for sure....oh so creative Miss Penny!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful change on the inside of the cupboards! <3
ReplyDeleteWow! What an expected pop of color! Looks great. Really transformed the kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet, Penny! I papered the back of my shelves and had I known about this I would have done it. But for a change I will use your idea, you BET I will! :) When we redid our cupboards and painted them from blond to white, we had the doors taken off and the center panel cut out and replaced with clear glass so my dishes would show. The glass was put in place with clips so I could just take out the glass panels and wash them..or whatever. This is such a neat and inexpensive way to spruce it up. I LOVE the pink coffeemaker. Mine is deep red. I love that we can get them in colors now! Do you have a colored toaster? I use mine so much it has to be out on the counter.
ReplyDeleteCan your kitchen get any cuter? My guess is YES!!! :)
P.S. I had a chance to buy an entire bolt of that very material at a garage sale for $15!!! I passed it up! I hate myself!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your home! It is gorgeous! Thank you so much for the "tour" and Thank you for linking up to the Oh My Heartsie Girls Wordless Wednesday Linky Party!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fabulous week!

ReplyDeleteyour kitchen is so pretty in pink
ReplyDeleteGreat idea what you are doing to the cabinets
and love the pink coffee pot I spotted that first thing
It's amazing what all you do to your pretty pink and white kitchen
Wow! Very shabby chic, you have quite an eye for detail.
ReplyDeleteOh Penny, I am in love with your cupboards! They are so pretty on the inside that you could easily leave them open all the time.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is truly a place of beauty and charm - wonderful detail, my dear :) Thanks for sharing at Roses of Inspiration. I hope you join us again next Tuesday. Hugs!
what a very pretty idea for covering the dark brown....
ReplyDeleteYou have one of the prettiest kitchens I have ever seen. Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteThe inside of your cabinets before you painted them looks the same as our cabinets. We also did not paint the inside because of lack of time. I think this will be a great project for Joe to do once he retires in 2 years. It will help in keeping him busy.....
Love what you did with the backs of the doors! The fabric is stunning!! Love It!!
The amount of cabinets you have just amazes me because I have almost none compared to yours!!
Hugs,
Deb
So pretty! If my cabinets looked like that I'd NEVER have to yell at my husband again for leaving the doors open! LOL! ;) love rosie
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love what you have done with the insides of your cabinet doors. What a lovely way to add whimsy and color. You amaze me with your talent and creativity. Thank you for showing us how you did it.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a lovely idea for my vintage kitchen.
Your blogging sister,
Connie :)
So pretty, Penny! Good job! Your kitchen has soooo many cabinets (lucky you)! Visiting from Nifty Thrifty Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the fabric on the inside of your cabinet doors. And I LOVE your plates you have above the cabinets! I have a couple of glassed cabinets and I have thought of putting fabric there but my mister would probably not be a happy camper.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitchen, love the pink coffee pot! Thanks for sharing at OMHG WW :)

It is time consuming but so worth it! The paint really freshens things up beautifully and finishes it all off :) I understand about the coffee pot being moved. My husband would feel the same way. Well, it don't hurt trying! :) Thanks for sharing on the Art of Home-Making Mondays this week Penny!
