I bought a box of vintage Valentines at the auction this past summer for $17 (as I remember, not sure). I have been looking forward to getting them out for Valentines Day.
I don't decorate the mantle or much else around the house for Valentines but I usually do something in the family room. I know that I overdo my decorating, but I guess it's just my style....lol! Above you see the completed result, below is probably where I should have stopped!

You can see in the photo above this one that a second bouquet has been added to the ledge.....a heart banner has been hung.....a romantic couple has been added to the mosaic pedestal.... extra rose sprays have been added to the ledge...a rose wreath has been added to the ledge.....and last....a Happy Valentine wooden plaque. I did remove the small footstool at the bottom of the left side of the cabinet.....thought it might be too much....hehehe! |
Almost all of the vintage Valentines have a honey comb or are 3D |
I have found or been given several pretty heart candy boxes over the years ...... |
Sweet couple plate.... |
There were two of these in the box. If you look close, you can see a paper clip in the center of the basket. Most of the vintage Valentines you find are missing the little dog ears that close the honey comb together, I have found a paper clip works great as a substitute. |

I have my mother ..... |
and Grandmothers Valentines....such a treasure! I love to read all the notes on the back.... |

ReplyDeleteWonderful score on the valentines, and they appear to be in excellent condition too. Guess I will start to decorate for Valentines Day also, you have given me the incentive, but first I still need to carry my xmas tree out to the garage!!
