There was a corner in our back yard that had become a "catch all". |
In the left photo , you can see how bad the little corner was. ( We didn't use it for trash.....lol!....the black bags are full of silk flowers that I use in the yard.) |
With a lot of hard work it is now a nice area to sit in the shade of the big oaks and enjoy the summer. |
The lattice adds a feel of privacy to the area. |
This old mail box was also in our daughters "dump pile" so H loaded it up too! |
I am going to enjoy my lunch out here in the cool shade and write a few notes to some friends. |
Think the mailman would pick them up back here.....lol! I am thinking a fairy garden in the mailbox, any other ideas? |
Before.......................................................................................After |
I am so pleased with how the area turned out. We still have another area that needs some tlc, but the summer is getting away from us and I'm thinking it will be next summer before we can get to it. |
Penny! When you first posted photos of your corner, I was in love with what you had done. With the rest of your additions, it's beautiful and such a peaceful setting. I didn't think it could get any better, but it certainly did. And a fairy garden mail box!? Love it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great spot to hide and cool off! And a fairyland mailbox would be adorable, or even a nesting bird or two…lol or all! Can't wait to see what else you do.
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of all the little sitting spaces that you have all over your yard!! And this one is little a secret garden hideaway...... Yes, Fall is on the way but i am so looking forward to it!!
Hugs,
Deb
what a fun place to relax and enjoy your garden!
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for outdoor spaces!!!! I love what you did with your space and how you re-purposed the hanging iron shelves. Oh and the mail box - - Love it!!! I'm stopping by from Imparting Grace
ReplyDeletePenny, I've been wondering what you do when there is bad weather, high winds, heavy rains..etc. Do you rush out and bring it all in..all the blankets, spreads and other delicate items. I know my son in law built the birdhouse for me in my header photo and when it rained..(and we get very little) the edges of the roof warped something terrible. Obviously he didn't weather proof it. We clamped it..and used liquid nails and though it wasn't easy to get those huge curls to lay down, we managed. Another lovely little birdhouse you see out under one of the tree's in the yard did the same thing. Warped. There is so much outside at your home. How do you manage when the weather isn't lovely?? Hugs,

Hi Mona, We don't have too much rain and I usually know ahead of time so I can bring in things I don't want to get ruined. I buy my blankets and things at yard sales and replace them as they wear out or get ruined. High winds?...some of my things are stapled to the wood they are on or sometimes I have sewn "apron strings" to them and have them tied on. The linens on my wicker chairs are all tied on. hugs....
DeleteOh my! I forgot to make comment on your improvements..and they are adorable! Would you be drilling holes and inserting Fairy lights of some sort so you can see back inside? How could you make a Fairy garden in it. I guess I will just wait and see. I would probably put an ivy plant in..and a fat little bunny or knome on the open lid. But then I simplify everything anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteSheesh! I mean Gnomes? LOL You know what I mean. OR Fairies...but of course! Fairies! :) Absolutely!
ReplyDeleteYou really made a very nice place in that corner and I just love how you use things that would have other wise went into the trash. I do like the fairy garden idea I will have to say. Love your pretty place setting to enjoy your meal as you write out some notes!
ReplyDeleteI want all of your stuff in my backyard! I LOVE the turquoise dinnerware. If you were my neighbor things would show up mysteriously in my yard!
ReplyDeleteYou garden looks so lovely Penny, I bet it is lovely having a morning cup of tea here :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at the weekend blog hop

Penny, it's so nice to turn a place of stash into a place to relax! Love your beautiful table setting. I recently bought a glass light fixture to turn into a bird feeder. I was going to buy some rope to hang it from. Like what you did! I use my old mailbox in the garden to hold my garden tools, but a fairy garden would be cute. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
