First I wanted to show you how I made a simple fall centerpiece, then I have a yummy recipe for Southwestern Corn Chowder for you.
I planned a hearty soup for H and I to enjoy on the porch and I wanted a quick fall centerpiece for the table. |
These metal compartment thingy's are so handy......you are only limited by your imagination as to what you can use one for. I picked this one up at HL when their metal was 50% off....it was about $15 on sale.
I thought about filling it with candles and then I changed my mind and didn't put the candles away before I took my photo. |
I wanted to share one of my little tricks with you. I didn't have enough buttons to fill a compartment, so I stuffed some paper towel in the bottom of the compartment, added a piece of crochet and a FEW buttons. |
I did the same thing with my white buttons. |
I filled my compartments with a assortment of fall things......pine cones, fall berries, white pumpkins |
To add more interest and texture to my centerpiece, I added some twine, pieces of lace, and a small wasp nest. |
Now that my centerpiece is done, I can set the table for lunch. |
I used a square ceramic place for the charger, a pretty plaid paper plate (for the corn bread) and a bowl of yummy chowder |
I found this recipe in a recent yard sale cook book. |
I followed the recipe pretty close......I didn't puree my sweet potatoes because I wanted the chowder to be as chunky as possible. I really liked the flavor that the sage and cumin added . |
