New Furniture Arrangement and Slip Covers

First I want to show you the new furniture arrangement....

On  the left is the old furniture arrangement.........right is new

I moved the love seat over into the blank space next to the sofa to give the room a cozier feel for the holidays.
Then I shifted the two recliners over by the sofa to make a U shaped conversation area.    The library ladder that you will see in the next photo was where the leather recliner is now......

So,  now the ladder is sitting where the cloth recliner was.

Here are the different slip covers I have had on the sofa........photo three is the latest one.
When I was taking the photo's of the new arrangement ,   I got sick and tired of looking at the black hole (tv) and I made a cover to put in front of it.    Just a simple fix,....I made a pocket on the end of the little quilt and ran it thru a tension rod.

Here is a close up of the new material I made the slip covers from for the sofa.    The total project was less than $10 for the sofa and the love seat as  I used yard sale sheets.     I like the beige background on the fabric....it goes a little better with the recliners than white does.

Here is the new cover for the love seat.

Now that I've pushed all the furniture to the opposite  side of the room,   I can put up a Christmas tree on each side of  the fireplace.

  1. I actually think the room looks bigger this way, Penny. You certainly have a pretty assortment of fabrics to work with. Looks like you are getting ready for the Christmas holidays early! xo Diana

  6. Doesn't it just feel so fresh when you change things around?! I don't like to always see the "black hole" either so the hubby has one rule, no TV larger than what can fit in the armoire so I can close the doors on it. It's fits a 52 inch TV and who needs a bigger one than that? You're quilt solution was inspired!

  7. Penny, this is you best yet! I love it!! You are just so good at putting a room together. At least you know who you are and what your style is. I have NO idea..and I should after all these years. I switch from the deep reds..blacks and greens etc. etc...to the pale pinks and greens...*sigh*..like I said...NOT a clue what my style is! You are consistant and I sooo admire that about you. I never get tired of your pretties. So much to see, so many idea's.

  8. Penny,
I know this room is a large one but you have made it look even larger!! Love the slip covers and the new furniture arrangement. I would love to cover the TV in the LR but it seems that it is always on so that would not work!! LOL!!

    Hugs,
    Deb
