New Look for the Kitchen

I wanted to give the kitchen counters a fresh look for 2016,  so I tried not to bring back very many of the accessories I had put away in November to make room for the Christmas decor.

I layered a silk rose wreath over the open cupboards.

Then,   I brought in my white swan  soup tureen from the lit cabinets in the family dining room.

I am going to repurpose my tureen and use it as a cookie jar for a change.

I've had my hand painted flour sifter put away for a while,  so it seems like new now.

I put an oil painting behind the swan and draped a large piece of cream colored crochet over the top of it.

Here is the vignette next to the swan.....

I started the vignette with a piece that I bought in Branson Mo.  a few years ago.   It is a iron candle holder that has been married to a vintage glass bowl light cover.   I think the pink swans look cute next to the swan tureen.....er... cookie jar....lol!

I filled the light fixture (bowl) with a tea towel and some chintz tea cups.....

I put a tea cup place mat on each side of the little pink buffet......

I filled the drawers of the pink buffet with an assortment of our favorite tea's.

I finished the grouping on the kitchen  counter with a Fitz and Floyd duck that I picked up at a yard sale this past summer for a couple of dollars.

I still have a couple of counters left in the kitchen to put back together,  so I'll be back soon to show you how they look!

  2. I simply love your idea to use the tiny pink buffet to hold your favorite teas. I love herbal teas myself and always have way too many to keep them organized. My husband has kindly asked me to stop buying tea until I can drink some of what we already have. ;) Your kitchen is enchanting!

  11. Penny,
Everything looks so pretty and romantic!! I so wish I had the amount of counter space that you did so I could "play" too!! LOL!!
I always say I wish I had a bigger Kitchen but not for cooking, for decorating!!
I am going to be a stalker now , catching up on your posts that I missed. I am taking my time taking down Christmas and labeling and re-organizing everything in new storage tubs and plastic ornament tubs......

  12. You do a great job of moving things around from room to room.

I do wonder where you store everything though when it's not in use.
