I moved the furniture around in the family room to have it more "open" for summer. This past winter, the furniture was moved closer together for a cozy feel. |
I also changed the slip covers on the sofa and love seat from the blue and pink to a cool white for the summer. |
Here is the before and after..... |
When I organized the linen closet a few weeks ago, I realized that I had amassed a big collection of Battenburg lace dust ruffles. I pick them up at yard sales for less than $5. |
So, I cut my dust ruffles apart and made slip covers for the family room furniture. |
I filled in the little nook that the leather recliner was in with some of my oil paintings and the full length mirror that I was using as a room divider in the entry way. |
I also wanted to share an idea to repurpose a child's chair. I have my child's chair at the end of the sofa ....using as a magazine holder. |

Penny,
ReplyDeleteGreat slipcovers and I love the arrangement!! This room screams Spring and Summer. We had Hail on Sunday and Joe's Mom got some snow!! No 70's here until the weekend. At this rate, I will never get my patio and back yard set up and ready for Summer!! LOL!!
Hugs,
Deb
I'd love a close up of the re-purposed dust ruffles, and perhaps a quick "how to" on making them?
ReplyDeleteWe don't have the warm weather yet, but in slowly putting the house back together, I will be going for a more open feel. The area rug, may not even go back down until Fall, and I'm searhing for my white/blue striped slip covers that have gone missing in the upset here. Lovely rooms...can just see your family all relaxing in there on a very hot day, Sandi
ReplyDeleteWould I ever love to have some of those battenburg lacedust ruffles, they make great "dust ruffles" for your sofas. Very nice summer look. Look forward to seeingyour summer mantel.

Hopping over from Laura's Blog (White Spray Paint)---and I have to say...absolutely beautiful!!! I so wish I could decorate like that, but with a husband and a 19 yr still living at home, there is no way I can get away with such prettiness...thank you for the smiles and the "mouth hanging open." (I wish you could see my smile)
