How to get the Most out of Your Decorating Dollars

Nothing to see here........that is...... nothing new!
Everything I used to give the guest room a fresh look has been used over and over and over.......you get the idea!

Everything I used to give the guest room a fresh look has been used several times already.

The chandy you see on the floor in the first photo was in the entry a few days ago.     When I put a hall tree   (one I've had forever but gave a new life with a coat of white paint )    in the entry,   it was so tall that I had to take the chandy down.

The chandy looks great hung in the guest room!

I hung one of my favorite decorating pieces on the wall behind the chandy and created a vignette on the vintage sewing machine that I used as a bedside table.    I have one almost like it on the other side of the bed.

The Victorian house you saw on the wall in last photo has been "around"  lol!
In the first photo you see it in the entry.......the second photo shows it above the fireplace in the family room.......the third photo you see it in the master bedroom above the faux fireplace........and the fourth photo shows its new home in the guest room.

The stained glass in the window above the bed had a previous life when it was hung in the family dining room window.

This lovely couple belonged to my mother......

You may remember that you last saw the bedspread in the master bedroom..............

You've see all the pillows in different locations over the years.......

The Victorian house on the other side of the bed was in the master bedroom on the mantel before...

And the pink Caddy too!

I get asked all the time......."where do you store it all"    The armoire in the guest room has pillow shams and quilts in it....looks like I need to straighten it up a bit!

I've had this yard long picture in the closet,   but before that it was hung in the hallway.

I love the new look in the guest room..........AND  the fact that I didn't spend a dime!

  1. I am like you- I move things all over the house and switch things up from room to room. It is always fun to see old things in new places. You have some great pieces, Penny. xo Diana

  3. You should have called this post, "Fruit basket, Upset!". I do the same thing, I'm just not as good as you are at posting, my impromptu designing changes!

  4. I agree with you! I do have a lot of things in storage that I go through from time to time. But our attic is not real convenient, so I try to just move things around to get new looks. And with all the extra stuff in storage, I really don't need to be spending money on decor, although sometimes I can't help myself!

  5. Penny,
Everything looks lovely!! I like how you can move things around your home from room to room but that is because you have the same colors in all your room and that makes it so easy for you!! With me, with every room having a different color theme, it is not so easy..... I am so jealous that you can do this!! LOL!!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie
