As you can see from my auction receipt, I bought a total of 3 boxes at $2.50 each (2 greenery boxes and 1 figurine box) There was probably 50 boxes to choose from and one of my friends picked up a bunch of them for her shop. |
Now for a closer look at my piano mantel.... |
There was a couple of sweet figurines and collector plates in my box..... |
The plate with the 2 little girls has this on the back of it....Afternoon Recital |
In the center of the piano mantel I have a music snow globe that snows glitter..... |
And on the far end of the piano mantel I have the other plate, a violin, and a glittery piano. |
This what it says on the back if the plate. The Piano Tuner is a Norman Rockwell print that appeared on the Saturday Evening Post cover on January 11, 1947 |
I have a collection of 5 piano stools and not one of them is at the piano....lol They are all being repurposed in other rooms in the house. |
This chair was in the garden room where I bought the rug.....and no one but me bid on it. I thought well....I can sit it in front of the piano since I don't have a stool there anymore |
I got my new Piano chair for the starting bid of $2.50 |
Remember the $5 rug I bought at the auction for the sun room? If you missed that post, here's a link to it......http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2022/06/my-5-auction-rug.html |
I realize that you can't decorate a mantel for $2.50 very often...if ever! But you can decorate your home on a small budget by shopping thrift stores, yard sales, and estate sales. I know you can because I have done it for years....hugs
You got some wonderful things Penny. The Norman Rockwell plate is the best. They are hard to find anymore and the chair Wow....

Wow - amazing Penny! You're a champion shopper/bidder! :) Thanks so much for the shopping AND decorating inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour piano mantel is lovely and I can't believe you scored the rug for $5! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
ReplyDeleteWow, Penny, you sure got some treasures. I love little figurines--especially if they are dollhouse sized (or close to it). My kids took piano lessons so I really enjoyed your vignette!
ReplyDeleteI love that awesome candelabra! And the various figurines and plates with musical motifs add a wonderful touch to the piano/mantel display.
