Just Sitting on the Porch!

Welcome to our front porch!

A little girl drinking fountain greets you as you step up on the porch.  I love bird houses and use them all over the yard.  These houses are mounted on some old porch posts that we picked up on a trip to NY.
Ms Scarecrow greets you as you come to the front door.    I stacked two large birdcages and put them on a wicker coffee table to make one really big bird cage!

My coffee table has been used for many things...pond, filled with ice and drinks, etc!!   For the center piece on it, I married a chandy and a flower urn,  just happened to fit nicely!

This is a childs vintage chair that I bought a long time ago.  The woman I got it from had used it as a child, I love to get pieces with a history!  The bird bath is one I made from a punch bowl, canister, and light fixture!

This is the view to your left as you come upon the porch.

I made this bird feeder from a crystal punch bowl and  assorted  bowls.
Just a little bench sitting on the porch.

I have this little sitting area on an old dresser, thought it was kind of fun! (we don't actually sit there)   Mr. Penny made the bird house from old lumber , metal roofing, door knobs, hinges.. and the kitchen sink!  lol

More bird houses!!!

This is our little travel trailer that we added a free standing door  and removeable window  to kind of dress it up since it sits in the front yard when not in use.    It has a little bitty porch so it got to be in the porch party!  That thing under the window is my wuggy.... a marriage of  and old buggy and a wagon.  I have an old camping stove sitting on it in this picture.

And here is a close up of the wuggy filled with flowers.  I hope you enjoyed seeing our front porch, if you would like to see more porch ideas,  please come over and see all the porches at Kelly's party!!!

  14. The very last thing I noticed was the whirlybird sprinkler. I haven't seen one of those in a very long time. I love the idea of putting dishes/punch bowls and such together for the birds. I have one of those fluted dishes (in my hutch though) and a light fixture probably very close to the one you have (over the kitchen table). Both were my grandmother's before they were mine. I thought about finding some items like that at a thrift store to do the same thing - wouldn't part w/my items for that at this point - but what a great idea. Lots of great ideas. Love the door w/the small porch ... I have a "staircase" (treated 2x6 and 4x4 posts) used as a porch for our RV - when we got rid of it, I kept the steps (w/o the landing) for potted plants.

Anyway - enjoyed my visit. Happy Pink Saturday!

  15. I love your porch. It's so very lovely, peaceful and serene. If you find a strange woman sitting on your front porch serenely drinking a cup of coffee early one morning it might be me. :) If the little girl drinking fountain is gone after she leaves then it definitely was me. :D

    Have a great weekend.
