The Ugly Truth about My Studio

There's our studio on the left....pretty pink door....sweet flower box....shutters....would you like to come in a take a look around?    Well,  before you say yes,  I'd better warn you!     It ain't a pretty sight!      We've been stuffing and shoving and messin' and gomin' in there all winter's time to do a little spring cleaning!

Look at this.....I don't even know where to start!   It seems overwhelming  as this is only one small corner of the studio!     It's going to take a while, maybe all!
I couldn't decide if we should paint these dark cabinets white or do something else.......I decided to do something else.    I have a  collection of vintage clothing that I can't enjoy  because it's all packed up.   I wondered if I could somehow use clothing like wall  "paper".....
So  H got out his electric stapler and we started stapling clothes to the cabinet doors.    We had to be careful how we stapled them  because the doors still have to open and close....the cabinets are full of stuff,   but that's another project in itself!
After we got all the clothing stapled up,  I added a few embellishments.....
There is about 20' of cabinets on that wall in the studio and I only have half of them done at this point!
There was a big antique auction over the week end and I was able to add a few vintage hats to my collection.     I got the bid on this box full...$9 for all......

Of course the pink roses.....

 were my favorite hats.....
But they were all pretty!

I was also able to get the bid on this beautiful pink quilt....

$17.50 for a full size.....
Lovely hand embroidered flowers.
I put a vintage dress on my wicker dress form....see her on the far left of the before photo.....

Gorgeous lace on the bodice...../

a beautiful  gathered drape around the waist,  and a flowing soft satin skirt.        I love romantic vintage clothing!

Well,  I'd better get back to work in the studio.....ugh!     I'm not even a fourth done........ I'll keep you posted on my progress!

  1. That is amazingly CLEVER! I love how your clothing "wallpaper" turned out! That needs to be in a magazine somewhere!

I am going to be off for 4 days this weekend and we will be tackling the yard and patio then...... We are finally having some nice weather!!

  10. Wow! Lots of stuff!! Years ago before my husband's grandfather died, I had a chance to go to Lynchburg, VA. to visit him just before his relatives were moving him from his very large house to a smaller one story home as they felt it would be safer for him. His house was 2 story with attic and basement, over 4000 sq. ft. I explored the attic and in it found several of the old wooden travel trunks that had been in their family for years. I opened one and found it filled with old beaded dresses!!! Now I wish I had asked to have the and at least a couple of those trunks!

  11. I thought I had a lot of stuff..but now I wish my children could see what you have so they would not tease me so. I get overwhelmed with all that I have accumulated. Your things are so well organized. I wondered, as other probably have, where you stored all the items you come up with to decorate. Now we kow! :) I am not half the collector you are! What fun you must have! No wonder you can change things so easily! NEAT!!

  12. I mean..."now we KNOW, not "kow!" :) I need to proof read more!
