Wedding Reception Buffet

I had the wedding reception buffet set out on the kitchen island.    The island is a little small but I didn't want to have to carry all the food to another larger table that we would have had to set up maybe on the porch or in the back yard.    The smaller bowls that I needed to use for the island could easily be refilled with food from the refrigerator or the oven.

I had a big bald spot in the center of the island that I didn't want to put food in.....it would be too hard for everyone to reach over that far to fill their plates.   I didn't realize how bald it looked until the night before the wedding....so,  for a quick fix,  I ran over to the grocery store and picked up four small pots of white roses.

I just staggered them on different levels and I was happy with the result.

I didn't have a big variety of food on the menu,  but I had lots of what everyone seems to always like.

I love this photo of Melissa and her dad working in the kitchen together after the wedding.   H immediately changed clothes when we got home,  he put on his everyday "uniform"  of a tee shirt and jeans.       He's a very casual kinda guy,  that's one of the things I love about him.

My group loves their meat,   so as long as there is plenty of that,  we are ok!

We cooked 4 big pork roasts for pulled pork.

Several roasts for BBQ.....

and a couple of big briskets.

Everyone in the family helped in the kitchen   ( well,  except for me....I was the wedding photographer.....lol)

Here's Melissa's oldest two helping their Papa

I dug out my mom's Carnival Glass punch bowl and repurposed it to serve the mounds of mashed potatoes that I knew would be eaten.

We actually ran out of mashed potato's,  but I had potato salad to fill in.

I served baked beans .....the groom requested pinto beans so we had those too!

The potato salad was yummy.....

H made the coleslaw and everyone said it was the best they had every had.....

We had lots of onions,  pickles,  olives,  and hot peppers ( our daughter loves anything hot )   and of course ....rolls.....with lots of butter.

The kitchen got pretty congested at times,  but I love it....the more the merrier.

I was "relieved" of my kitchen duties since I was the wedding photographer.    I had that planned all along to get out of work.....lol!
