Patriotic Family Room

The yard normally gets the most decorations for the 4th of July,  but this year it's been rainy and hot.    So,  this year  the inside has received the bulk of my Patriotic decorating energy!

Yesterday I created a Farmhouse 4th of July tablescape in the family room dining area.     So today,   I decided to add Patriotic touches around the rest of the family room.

I started my decorating by changing the fireplace up a little.......

A corrugated metal pig is holding one end of the stripped pink banner that I hung below the mantel ...................

A corrugated metal cow is holding the other end of the banner.

I decorated the mantel with simple mason jars filled with cotton boll bouquets.    I borrowed the blue and pink Home Sweet Home sign from the laundry room......I may or may not put it back......I really like it here!

Then I asked H if he had time to put a coat of white paint on my USA map......thank you H!   Then I changed out the yellow floral fabric with a Patriotic themed flag fabric.

Adding more Patriotic touches around the room.......

I put a blue metal bucket filled with wild flowers on the wicker coffee table.      I also replaced the yellow runner with a blue and white floral one and topped my runner with a long crocheted piece.

Moving on to the love seat......

I made a new pillow case for the big  center pillow using pink and cream stripped fabric and some of the same blue and white fabric left over from the runner on the coffee table.

I couldn't leave out the piano could I?     I put three small flags that I made to the existing bucket of flowers.

For a Farmhouse touch.....I added a Farmers Market sign too!

Next to the love seat is a white wicker chaise lounge.......I added a pink and blue pillow to it that I borrowed from the sun room.

Door to the garage BEFORE.......................................................AFTER
While I was adding Patriotic touches to the family room.......H was busy with his paint brush,    It was silly to get a paint brush dirty just to paint that small USA silhouette I hung over the fireplace mantel.    So,  he removed everything from the door to the garage ......filled the nail holes....and gave it a fresh coat of paint.

For the sofa ,   I made a cover similar to the one I made for the love seat.

I added a lace bow and pretty pin to this one.

I've always had a bouquet or lamp on the pink tiered table on the side of the sofa.   Since we come into the house from the garage 99% of the time.   I thought it would be nice to have a place for our keys and the mail right as you come in the door.

I have a bowl for the keys and a painted metal tray for the mail.

Perfect place for a pad of daily words to live by!

Happy 4th of July!

  9. I love how you are able to use pink to decorate for every holiday and it works! I am still in love with the USA map. This version is just as great as the yellow one was.
