DIY Pear Stems for Fall

I saw some of the most gorgeous pear stems the other day and thought how I would love to have some to use in my floral designs.         At $28 per stem,    they were out of my price range since I would need a least 3 of them to put in a vase or tuck in a  floral design.

I went to Hobby Lobby to see if I could find anything in the floral department  that I could use to make my own version of the pear stems.

I found a sack of 6 pears for $10 that  were reduced to $6 by using a 40% off coupon.      I took the existing stem off which left me an opening to insert a stem that was on the branches....... that I also found at HL

Here is a close up of how I inserted the stem into the hole in my pear.      The stem fits into the opening pretty tight so I didn't feel a need to add any hot glue.

The stems I used to put my pears on were on sale half off........so the 3 stems were only $3.50 each.

SO,   my total cost for the 3 pear stems was $16.50.      They are not identical  to the ones I saw for $28 each,    but they're close enough for me and in my budget.

I put my pear stems in a large pitcher that belonged to my mother and placed my design on a end table in the sun room.

I don't decorate every room for every holiday or season,   but I do try to add a touch or two to each room.

In the sun room,  I sat a truck filled with small pumpkins on the coffee table.      And that is the extent of my fall decor in the sun room.....lol!

I took a few photos around the sun room since I was in there already photographing my pear stems.

Here is the deck that you can walk onto from the sun room.

Again,   only a small touch of fall......a pumpkin on the coffee table.

Thank for stopping by today.......come back soon!

  1. Love how you found the items so much cheaper to duplicate the beautiful pear branches you'd seen for so much more money. I do that often when I find something I'd love to have but cannot justify the high price for it. I can put my own creative twist on it and truly enjoy it more knowing I did it for a fraction of the price. The one you made looks lovely.
