My First Big Project for 2020....the Utility Room

Our washer decided to stop working the first week in December........wouldn't you know it would quit working around the holidays!    We decided to replace both the washer and dryer since they were over 15 years old.     The new ones we picked out were a special order and didn't come in until after Christmas.     In fact they won't be delivered until tomorrow.

We decided to paint the utility room before the new ones are delivered and of course,   there is always the domino effect...lol!     I plan to make some changes to the decor in the laundry room before we're finished.

We moved everything out of the room,   it just makes everything so much easier.

It was really a pain to empty out the storage unit between the wash and dryer.     It is in the garage now,  waiting for it's makeover.

When we did the original make over in 2012,   the cabinets got a coat of white paint and the walls were painted a soft yellow.     I was lovin' me some yellow back then....lol!    H will take care of all that yellow paint with a coat of Kilz.

I thought you might enjoy seeing how the utility room has evolved over the last 7 years.

I've included a couple of photo's sharing how the utility room was decorated for some of the holidays and seasons.....

It took about 5 gallons of paint to get all that dark wood covered up back in 2012......

Here's a peek inside the big wall of cabinets.     I use these cabinets to store linens,  candles,   and anything else I can stuff in there!

The cabinets over the washer and dryer have cleaning products and other misc. stuff  in them

Well,  the utility room won't look like this the next time you see it!

  4. Wow, what a transformation, Penny! I love the white cabinets and the big shelving unit you made really gives you so much more storage. Funny, unless it is a decorating friend, my other friends don't "get it" that we need cupboards to store all of our decor! Lol!! ;) Guess it's what we are into, huh? ;)

Enjoy painting and putting in your new w/d! Will look forward to seeing how your laundry room turns out,
    Barb :)
