Saturday's Estate Auction

There were hardly any yard sales on Saturday, so we decided to walk down to an estate auction that was just down the street from where we live.  They had a lot of antiques and collectables...it took them all day to get everything sold.

I bought this pole lamp for $25  I have one similar to it that belonged to my grandmother. The globes on my grandmother's are plastic ...these are glass.

The globes are what I believe they call a quilted diamond pattern.  I know that Fenton made some globes similar to this but I am not 100% sure that these are Fenton's.

This old case ($7) was very unusual and the auction people said when they opened it, it was full of  old dolls. I bought three of the dolls that were in it.  The handle is leather, but I don't know what the case is made of!  The case is very hard, maybe some kind of early plastic...but it doesn't look like plastic.

It has wood strips on the bottom and the straps come around to hold the top on. The estate had quite a few accessories for a buggy, so I wonder if this strapped on a buggy somehow.

Here are the dolls that I bought.  I forgot to get a picture before I undressed them and cleaned them up. I've got them laying on towel to get their hair dried.

Hopefully I can do something with their hair!  They have composite heads, rubber arms and legs, and a cloth body.

Sometimes they group several items together and sell as one, so I had to buy this doll to get the other two. $25 for the three dolls.   Thank you so much for visiting... come back soon!

  1. Estate sales are always fascinating. I've told all my friends that when the day comes that my kids have an estate sale of all my stuff, their job is to stand in each room at the sale and say, "No, she absolutely was not crazy!" ;-). Cherry Kay

  14. The dolls are very interesting....I'm not sure, but do I see teeth?? I was told once by a 90 year old doll collector that no matter what kind of shape the doll is in, if she has teeth she is worth money. I don't know how true that is, never checked it out, but thought I'd pass along the info. Estate sales are soooo fun!!!! Thanks for sharing.
