H also painted the velvet lining with white paint and it turned out the most beautiful color of grey. |
She has four drawers.... |
I have lined three of them with lace... |
and left the top one the grey color. |
The knife storage is different than most. You put the tip of the knife in a slit instead of a velvet band. |
The blond chest on top of my new one belonged to my mother... |
It has beautiful aqua lining... |
and holds vintage forks. |
This is a chest that I bought at a yard sale for $2. I have thought about painting it white, but haven't got around to it yet. |
It is lined with a pretty burgandy velvet and holds vintage spoons. |
There are three large silverware compartments in the buffet that is in the formal dining room. |
My gold set of silverware is currently in a tablescape in the small dining room... |
I have a couple of drawers of "everyday" silverware in the kitchen. I use the everyday silverware for the tablescapes in the sun room.... |
and in the kitchen. |
Wow! You have a super great collection! I love how you store your vintage silverware.

ReplyDeleteVery nice painting job, Penny! I never knew you could paint velvet--it turned out great. And I think the price was very good despite the bidding war! Also so nice to have your mother's silverware.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Penny,
ReplyDeleteI think it was well worth the $60! She is a beauty. I wish I could do tablescapes but Joe would have no where to read his daily newspaper, God Forbid! We eat at our Dining Room table so no tablescapes for me.....
Hugs,
Deb

Beautiful collection and I am in love with the gold set!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great chest, one you will enjoy for years. I can see my jewelry in it so this puts me on a mission to find one. Coming over from Stone Gable Kathy
ReplyDeleteWow, Penny, I've never seen a silverware chest like yours and I love it. So pretty in white! My mother used to have one of the patterns in your collection, the one with the small flowers in the center of the knife handle. Thank you so much for sharing and blessings to you, Patti
ReplyDeletestupendo, è diventato un oggetto devvero prezioso!
ReplyDeleteI love the transformation from boring to pretty vintage white. This gives me a thought for an ugly silverware chest I have (small ... no legs). The interior velvet looks so nice painted grey, but didn't the paint make the velvet all stiff & scratchy?! I do like the lace lining on the other drawers. You have some wonderful ideas on your blog, thanks for sharing! Wendy ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful vintage piece! I think you got a good deal at $60.
ReplyDeleteWoW! This is beautiful! Thanks for sharen with us at One Sharendipity Pl. this weekend!

Penny, that is a lot of vintage silverware, but you seem to have storage covered. I like the unit painted white too and totally worth $60 if it made your heart sing. Thanks for linking up at Shabbilicious Friday.
