Vintage Silverware Chest

I am frequently asked "where do you keep it all?"   Today I am going to show you where I keep all the silverware that I use in my tablescapes.   This is the newest silverware chest.....

I bought it at an auction a few months ago and she has been sitting quietly in the garage waiting for H to give her a fresh coat of white paint....

H also painted the velvet lining with white paint and it turned out the most beautiful color of grey.

She has four drawers....
I have lined three of them with lace...

and left the top one the grey color.

The knife storage is different than most.  You put the tip of the knife in a slit instead of a velvet band.
The blond chest on top of my new one belonged to my mother...
It has beautiful aqua lining...

and holds vintage forks.

This is a chest that I bought at a yard sale for $2.  I have thought about painting it white, but haven't got around to it yet.

It is lined with a pretty burgandy velvet and holds vintage spoons.
There are three large silverware compartments in the buffet that is in the formal dining room.

My gold set of silverware is currently in a tablescape in the small dining room...
I have a couple of drawers of   "everyday" silverware in the kitchen.   I use the everyday silverware for the tablescapes in the sun room....
and in the kitchen.

I usually tell you what I paid for my auction purchases, but I have been putting it off on this beauty.   There was another lady that wanted her as bad as I did and we kind of got in a bidding war.  I finally won out at $60, more than I wanted to pay...but I am glad that she came home with me!

Til next time...♥-fridays-link-party-614/

  9. Penny,
I think it was well worth the $60! She is a beauty. I wish I could do tablescapes but Joe would have no where to read his daily newspaper, God Forbid! We eat at our Dining Room table so no tablescapes for me.....

  22. What a great chest, one you will enjoy for years. I can see my jewelry in it so this puts me on a mission to find one. Coming over from Stone Gable Kathy

  23. Wow, Penny, I've never seen a silverware chest like yours and I love it. So pretty in white! My mother used to have one of the patterns in your collection, the one with the small flowers in the center of the knife handle. Thank you so much for sharing and blessings to you, Patti

  24. stupendo, è diventato un oggetto devvero prezioso!

  25. I love the transformation from boring to pretty vintage white. This gives me a thought for an ugly silverware chest I have (small ... no legs). The interior velvet looks so nice painted grey, but didn't the paint make the velvet all stiff & scratchy?! I do like the lace lining on the other drawers. You have some wonderful ideas on your blog, thanks for sharing! Wendy ;)

  26. What a beautiful vintage piece! I think you got a good deal at $60.
