This glider was in the back yard last year...it got a new coat of white paint and moved to the front porch this year... |
I bought this glider at an auction last summer.... |
On the left, the glider is all decked out for fall. On the right, she has her new summer paint job. |
I wanted to show you this rusty crusty chair that I bought at the auction last Saturday.... |
She cost me $10...no extra charge for all the rust..lol! |
This is a wonderful place to sit and have tea...sometimes the neighbors stop by for a visit... |
There is the Hoosier potting bench in the back ground... |
On the left is a photo of how the front porch was decorated last year. |
I so want to come and visit your house!
ReplyDeleteI can see why the neighbours stop by. It looks so inviting and you even have a cat. Bonus! :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Penny... every inch of your home is so inviting... I would just walk around room to room then outside and relax in each and every one of those serene looking spots... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteIt is just gorgeous out there, Penny. I can see why neighbors pop in to see all your loveliness. I hope your rug holds up because it looks great there. I would LOVE a glider. That is similar to the one my Aunt had. I spent many happy hours gliding away and singing to myself- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYour porch is fantastic as well as your yard. Totally LOVE your fountain...and everything else! xo
ReplyDeleteI am so envious, now I'll have to go out to do some snazzying tomorrow on our little front porch. Your porch is so nice and you have wonderful things to make it so comfy and welcoming looking. Those gliders are to die for. I remember those but won't find them here in western CO that I know of. I'm originally from OH and we lived in KY before CO. I miss all the wonderful goodies I always found in KY.
ReplyDeleteNot room for all the great stuff you have on yours but I'll do what I can with what I have, lol. Our front porch needs to be sanded and repainted something awful. Sure glad I saw your front porch post, love it.
I could sit there and read for hours! Maybe even nap!
ReplyDeleteOh Penny I love these old gliders. I have one and I can sit in it and glide for an hour. My grandmother had one and that is what I did at her house growingup.
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Love the glider!! Wish i had room for one!! Also love that bird house on a stand!!
Hugs,
Deb
Your porch is so beautiful. Makes me want to decorate my porch now. I have a question...may sound stupid asking...when it rains, do you have to move all your stuff? The pillows, rug, and blankets will get wet? I do have a covered porch but if it is windy, parts of it will get wet.
ReplyDeleteHi Gloria! You have a very good question that I am asked alot! First, I buy a lot of my stuff at yard sales for very little money, so if it were to get ruined it would be ok. Second...I live in New Mexico and we don't get much rain here, lol! Sometimes I put some decor out just for the photo shoot or when I am entertaining and it comes right back inside after I'm done. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog...hugs, Penny
DeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteYour front porch is so beautiful. I would love to have something like this.
Have a great weekend.

Hi there! Your porch is beautiful! I have the same glider(second pic) with matching chair and rocker. I love gliders and the era they're from. I never thought to gussy them up with pillows. Thanks for the great inspiration. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a front porch I could sit on every day!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy PS.

Debbie

ReplyDeleteMy post today is about my grandmother's front porch swing! So when I saw your post title I had to come and visit. Your's is beautiful! My grandmother's was very plain but I have such sweet memories....come read about them at http://nanahood.com/grandmas-front-porch-swing

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!
Blessings,
Cindy
I sat on a glider like that at my grandparents...It was green. Later it moved over to my mom's ( my house as child ) under an old oak tree.
ReplyDeleteEqually comfortable and loved at both spots! :)
Absolutely beautiful. I had a little yellow chair like your pink one. Lots of good memories. Question: What do you do when it rains? Do you have a quick storage tip?
ReplyDeleteHi Joy! We don't get a lot of rain here in New Mexico....but, I have the coat closet in the entry way cleaned out where we can stash linens there in a hurry! Also, I keep an eye on the weather channel and if I see rain coming, I bring them in. The rug is only out there when we are entertaining...I decided not to leave it out because we do have a lot of sun that will fade it pretty quick! Hugs, Penny
DeleteWhat a lovely, charming, relaxing sitting area!! If I were a neighbor I would be stopping by often!! I am visiting from A Stroll Thru Life Party, I have a rusted metal chair, that I love, in my post also this week! Have a great day, Lori
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the older gliders. Remember spending hours on my grannys porch just gliding back and forth.....awesome.
ReplyDeleteWell, that just makes me wish I lived in your neighborhood! It is absolutely charming. I remember those gliders from my childhood -- aaack, I'm old!

I'll be RIGHT over to enjoy a cuppa tea and some sweet fellowship. Your porch looks so lovely, it makes me wish I had a place like that here at my home but with construction and siding going up over the summer I suppose it would be a bit impractical this year. Perhaps next. :) Enjoy your porch time!
ReplyDeleteoh my, I absolutely love love love that glider! gorgeous!!! hope to see you at Fishtail Cottage's garden party this week! ooxx, tracie

Absolute vintage porch perfection, Penny! LOVE it. Thanks so much for sharing at Project Inspire{d} ~ pinning and sharing...just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Mary
Well I think if I was strolling past and you were having tea, I might just be tempted to ask if you had another cup to share! This looks so old-fashioned charming with the cushions and the gliders and the picket fence. There seems to be a huge revival going on with these gliders recently (or maybe it's just because it's summertime now and everyone is displaying them again). Have a great week/weekend! Wendy ;)
ReplyDeletePS is the rusty crusty chair going to get a makeover?
How wonderful shabby chic
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage glider, I have been on the search for one for years. Every time I find one they are is such bad shape I choose not to get it. Thanks for sharing at the Cabin's BUDGET DECORATING PARTY.

Your porch looks so comfortable and relaxing Penny! And I am in love with your glider!
ReplyDeleteSuch a charming porch! I would love to decorate like that, but even with my screened in porch, I have to be careful due to Florida's frequent rain.
