I hung a beautiful resin piece on the wall...got it at Hobby Lobby many years ago.... |
I put a pretty vintage tea set on the side board that belonged to my mother. |
I have a few more pieces to this set, but I only had room to put out the tea pot and a couple of tea cups. |
I had a chair in front of the side board, but decided that I didn't like it. Soooo, I put a small table and chairs instead! |
I "dressed" the chair on the left...which is actually a piano stool....in a vintage flower girl dress. The table cloth is a vintage prom dress.... |
Here is a close up of the prom dress, but you can see all the ruffles better in the photo above. |
I replaced the bigger rectangle coffee table (in the photo on the right) with a smaller rounds one. It was just too crowded. |
This is the secretary that was in this space earlier....it is now in our bedroom! More on the bedroom redo later.... |

ReplyDeleteYour mother's tea set is lovely and so wonderful in your beautiful setting. You have such lovely things -- they give you a hug! Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteYes Penny, we love to come here and get our "fix" of beautiful decorating. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteYour mothers' tea-set is beautiful; so unique. Deb
ReplyDeletePenny, your mother's tea set is so very pretty and I love the Victorian couple on it. Everything looks so girly and ruffly! Thank you for sharing and coming to tea.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I always call it a buffet :) Your home is beautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteHi Penny: Love the tea set. Pedestal tea cups are my favorite. Your home is amazing. Not sure how you do it. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteI would've never guessed the tablecloth was a vintage prom dress. How clever. And what a pretty tea set that is. XOXO
ReplyDeleteI love the piece above the fireplace and the idea of the dress on the chair is so cute!
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteI get a kick out of how you move furniture from room to room!! I have found though with my new floors and felt pads under everything, it sure is easier to move things!! LOL!!
Unfortunately, I do not have the room to move too many thing around....
It looks lovely and that tea set is drop dead gorgeous!! Love it!!
So cute how you "dressed" the furniture!!
Hugs,
Deb
I like to move furniture too. Your decors are always so romantic and beautiful...your home is a dream, Penny!!!! Your mum' s tea set is just gorgeous

Your home looks like a rose garden all in bloom! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteDoes the wall arrangement behind your sofa hide an entry to another room. I tried to follow on a previous post but I couldn't quite figure out what you had done. If it is an entry that has been closed over...you have done a splendid job disguising it. Just lovely! I get so many idea's from you. It must have taken you years to collect all that gorgeous lace and ruffled pieces. I am fascinated!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet comments! Yes, the wall arrangement does conceal an entry to the formal dining room. You can enter the dining room at a different entrance, so it didn't matter if I covered this one up to have a "wall" for the sofa. Huts, Penny
DeletePenny, everything looks so lovely, like a dream. If "copying" and "imitation" are the best form of flattery, I am so, so guilty. I TAKE so many ideas from you. Guilty, as charged!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Penny, you are the most amazing woman! You have the best inspirations and put the most wonderful things together. You create beauty! Your home is magical!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Terri
Penny, your home always looks so cozy and warm. Love all the pink and I can't wait to see your Valentine's Day decorations.
ReplyDeleteSandy
Penny decorating well done Girl! I love the Resin piece, it looks like a Tin Tile. Looking forward to all your Valentine accents yet to be displayed. Thanks for all the loveliness!
ReplyDeleteOh your home is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to have tea - it is so girlie and beautiful!!!!!
what a great idea with the vintage prom dress! You have so many lovely things, and a real knack for displaying them!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful living room! I am going to use it as inspiration for decorating my new living room when I move!
ReplyDeleteI bought that very same buffet for my daughter for her birthday twenty years ago at a yard sale. We love it in your house and hers! Happy Treasure Hunt Thursday!
ReplyDeleteYup, you have pennified it! I did read that it does determine whether it was a buffet or a sideboard simply by which room is was in. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Lovely! You have a wonderful way of creative decorating - your sideboard looks beautiful and love the resin piece from Hobby Lobby! Love that store! The dress on the chair is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
Kathy
Thank you so much, Penny for sharing with A Return to Loveliness, I will be featuring your post today!
ReplyDeleteKathy
Hi Penny, Great to see you at the party! I love your side board vignette and that resin piece is so pretty too! Thanks for sharing your pretty home with us! Blessings, D@TheShadyPorch
ReplyDeleteI love the dress on the chair as if it is wearing it.
ReplyDeleteI say both depending on who I'm talking too if they look at me like they don't know what a sideboard is then I say buffet. Thanks for linking up your stuff with Throwback Thursday, but I'm trying to figure out how to eat perfume!
ReplyDeleteThis buffet is a perfect example... asvintage.blogspot.de
