4th of July Treasure Hunt

H and I had a quiet 4th of July week end....the kids were either working or went to the lake to do a little boating.    We are getting a little old to ski , so we didn't join them (H used to love to ski...me not so much)   We decided to drive to Lubbock.    We had a nice drive,  a great lunch,  did some shopping,  and went by a few yard sales.

We stopped by a yard sale on the way out of town and I fell in love with this old wooden dryer.    We knew the folks having the sale...this dryer belonged to a school mate of mine....Sherri Brewer...so it is kind of special!
I have the dryer filled with a bunch of doilies.....$10 for all of them.
My grandmother had a picture like this hung over her TV for years, so I couldn't pass it up!     Vintage Home Interior...$10.

The guy having this yard sale was really in the 4th of July spirit!
He had lots of Christmas stuff!   I bought the black record holder in the next photo from him for .50.   I am going to repurpose it as a dish holder.
The small rose bowl was .50.....the strawberry tea pot was $1....and the rose   water pitcher was also $1

I found another strawberry ceramic cake...$5...

I bought one a few weeks ago for $5 too!    The one on the left is the new one...the right is the old one.

It was a gorgeous day,  and there were lots of shoppers.
I bought Kyleigh this Lisa doll for $1     She is supposed to sing, talk, and walk,  we'll put some batteries in her when Ky gets here tomorro and see if she works,
They didn't have a lot of stuff at this yard sale....
but,  I did find a pretty topiary for .25.
there's a cute little bee on the top.

I plan to paint this chandy white and shabby it up a bit!
This was a "in the house" sale.
Another record holder for .50 and a cute ceramic strawberry wall plaque for .75.

This rusty, crusty hanging planter was $1....

AND  of course....no road trip is complete without a stop by Michaels for some 70% off  silk flowers,  chicken wire cloches, and a chicken wire bird cage.      I also used a 15% off coupon on your total purchase that included the 70% off things!     Can't beat that with a stick!!!

  24. Your great finds reminds me about a "yard sale" a couple of years ago. A family nearby had a yard filled with tables, chairs, baskets, and small items. Cars were parked up and down the street with people walking about the yard picking up things to "buy". Except it was not a yard sale but a family reunion! However they took it in stride and actually did sell off a few things on their garage.
