Three Tiered Lyre Mahogany Tea Table

It has been so much fun moving things around to give the house a "new year" mini makeover.    I get tired of having the same pieces of furniture in the same spot for years,   but I really don't want to buy anything new,  so I just move them and that seems to give them a new life.
This mahogany Lyre table belonged to my mother,  so I have really struggled with the idea of  painting it white to fit in to my decor better.    It has been in the studio all these years,  but I decided to bring it in ....not paint it.....and see if I could make it fit in with all the white that I decorate with.
I moved the white  harp table to another wall and put the lyre table in it's place.

I put a white ruffled doily on each of the three tiers to soften the dark mahogany

I surrounded the table with art work

I've never hung a sconce this low on the wall before.....not sure if I like it or not....time will tell!

All of my starched doilies came from my mother.......she loved to make them.     She would put dixie cups under each ruffle to "prop" them up until the starch set....

The rest of the entry is decorated for Valentine's,   so I added my sweet cat couple to give this vignette just a touch of romance...lol!

  5. Ihave furniture that cannot be moved easily for various reasons..so I change lamps etc.
It's fun to mess with things and experiment with different looks even if you don't leave it for long. You DO get some of the most brilliant idea's, Penny.
I always look for things that I can use in my own home. It's great!!
