Winter Wonderland

Let it snow....let it snow....let it snow!
We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning...H measured 8" in a lot of places!   He is worse than a kid, the first thing he wants to do is go out and play around in the snow!  He is originally from New York and was raised around snow, but he's been in New Mexico 47 years and it's a BIG deal around here to see this much snow.
The photo on the right was taken mid summer, but I was still cutting roses from these bushes 3 days ago!   The grass was still green yesterday, but the leaves had turned on the tree.

This is the deck that is right outside the sun room....

Pretty Girl is walking thru chest high snow.....
But, Sweet Pea is staying under the chair!

The snow drifted so pretty on the front porch....

It wasn't that long ago that we were having tea on the front porch.   Look how the snow drifted under the metal glider.....
This is the pony buggy that we brought back in out trailer when we were in Pennsylvania a couple of years ago.

The view out our kitchen window is much different than just a few weeks ago....

I think H and I will enjoy our snowy day in the......
Kitchen!

We are making Sand Tarts or "Snow" cookies as our kids call them   The dusting of powdered sugar on the cookies looks like snow.   I'll do a post on the cookies and give you the recipe later.

I had a little fun adding some "snow" and  "frost"  to my photo in PicMonkey....

Have a wonderful day!

  2. Wow - you sure did get a lot of snow. We haven't even seen that much here in Ontario, Canada yet. It always looks so beautiful when it first arrives. And I love the little cuties that are posted today. I didn't know you had cats, Penny. They are beautiful.

  5. Our yards look the same! I don't mind snow right up until Christmas and then that's enough. I see lots of cupcake decor at your place.

  6. Absolutely gorgeous snow scenes! And is it a little early for where you live? Even here in the south we have a prediction for possible snow this week.

  9. Penny I just love the pictures! Nothing prettier than the First Snow! Love your kitty, we had a cat in England and at the time the snow was up to the windowsill. Mom would open the window and the cat would jump out to go to the bathroom, we could always tell where he was under the snow because steam would come up above the snow where ever his was going LOL!

  21. Lovely, lovely. I hope we get Christmas snow in England this year. One year I flew in and the next day there was so much snow that the whole country was grounded. That was a glorious Christmas. :)

  22. These pictures are gorgeous! Im in Indiana and snow is a "given" every year, and I have to admit...I like it on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but then I always wish it would go away. :) But I DO always marvel at how pretty it looks. We are farmers and the snow is good for the ground and crops the following spring and summer. So...I shouldn't complain. So...I will stop that. But anyway, your photos are so beautiful. And I love your blog!

  33. Dusting of snow, wow, amazing photos they are all so beautiful, sometimes I'm a little shy to let on that I love Winter and the soft shadows the snow leaves us for picture taking each day. It is such a transition to go from clipping roses to shoveling snow in a few hours. I love the view from your kitchen both out and the cookies that are about to be made. Thank you

  34. This is beautiful, Penny, but I'm glad it's not here yet. It will be here soon enough. Your last photo could be a Christmas card. Thanks for sharing at my HOME.

  35. Penny!
Beautiful snow shots!! It looks so pristine on all your white things!! Do you leave all of your furniture and yard stuff out all Winter? We never could because of the harshness of our winters here with the temps, snow and ice. I have a chair on the front porch this year as Joe is not smoking in the house since the Remodel and I pray it will survive the Winter and still be in good shape.....
I am almost finished decorating what i plan on decorating this year.... I will not even get the Den done this year which really upset me at first but I am getting over it. I finished the LR tree yesterday and have to do the village yet but I am still deciding if I will put the garland going upstairs.....
I need to relax and enjoy what i DID get done this year.....

I am looking forward to seeing all your decorations....

    Hugs,
    Deb
