The wheels reminded me of old wooden wagon wheels..... |
The footrest was a perfect place for a pair of old boots.... |
Look at the sweet little wheel on the back... |
I may have H see if he can make it more sturdy so he can sit in it when he gets old.....lol! |
The girl I bought it from was a RN that used to work with our daughter in L and D...... |
She made me a package deal....$20 for the wheel chair and this old metal bedside adjustable serving tray. |
A Prairie Chic vignette is not complete without a prairie rooster...lol! |
I found this book at Barnes and Noble the other day and fell in love with it....if you can find a copy....take a look ... I think you might like it too! |

Penny, I have fun decorating in some way, every single day. It's a hobby and never a day goes by that I don't change something. Yesterday my daughter in law..rather Howard's daughter in law, gave me a stack of old heavy restaurant dishes. I mean these things are HEAVY..and also the same amount of platters. For some reason I love the oval shape of them. I've wondered why china wasn't made in the shape. I stacked four of them on the top of my microwave oven..so handy. Yep. I do a bit of decorating every day.
ReplyDeleteThe wheelchair. Well..I will always be honest with you and I am not nuts about it except the wood is wonderful..and maybe it is because I worked in a hospital so long and even as old as this one is...doesn't bring back good memories. However, when you finished decorating it...I have to admit it was cute. Even the hospital tray...same thing. They certainly can come in handy though if you have someone ill in the family. :) Anything old is fun! There isn't anything you have done that I haven't liked! :) You have a way of turning anything into something delightful!!
What a warm and beautiful room. It is like a page in time. Blessings, Catherine
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Penny!
ReplyDeleteI bet it has lot's of history
if only it could talk...
I saw an old wooden wheelchair like that in an antique store and they wanted $300 for it!! It was so cool tho!
ReplyDeletehello
ReplyDeletenormalement ce genre de fauteuil pour handicapé , le dos est fait avec du cannage
il ne m'inspire pas confiance
mais en déco c'est pas mal
j'adore la paire de bottes et le beau coq en céramique

Penny,
ReplyDeleteI sort of agree with the first comment. Being a nurse, it actually creeped me out a bit. Decorated like you have it, it is cute but I think it would still give me the heebie jeebies if it was in my house...... I think I would be thinking of some old horror movies......
BUT it is a unique piece and the wood is pretty.....
I am dying to see your booth??????? Soon?????
LOL!!
Hugs,
Deb
Awe....it is all just beautiful! Love browsing your blog. What an inspiration. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI used to know a woman who had a B&B and she decorated her screened in porch with medical items. She had a metal medicine cabinet that had glass doors, and a wheelchair. I thought it was pretty cool. I would look at the wheelchair and bee thankful each day that I wasn't having to use it!
ReplyDeleteI have much fun decorating too. You inspire me a lot...I love this old wheelchair and i love your Prairie chic decors

Penny, you have so many pretty things. I haven't been able to comment on your blog for months but I think my son may have fixed the problem for me. So, I'm here to see if this goes on. If it does, wonderful, I'll be back many times to visit you. Have a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
I wondered where you were! Glad to see you back....hugs
DeleteOh you know how I love decorating and I was forever a lady of PINK, just like you. Lately, in the past 3-4 years I've gotten to be a BLUE lady too! Anyhow, I love all you got and how you decorated it in your lovely, pretty and inviting room. Thanks for your sweet visit dear Penny
ReplyDeleteFABBY
Hi Penny, we love your Blog, and we are so picking on you today!! My initial thought too when I saw the wheelchair, even though I love the individual parts, wagon wheels, wood, etc, my initial thought and first reaction was Norman Bates' Mother in "Psycho." Can't get that image out of my head, LOL. Kay
ReplyDeleteHi Kay! Thank you so much for visiting my blog ! I am probably the only one in the world that hasn't seen Psycho....I am a big "ol' scaredy cat" and don't watch those kind of movies. I may have to make an exception and rent that one where I can see the wheel chair...lol! Hugs, Penny
DeleteEverything is so beautiful Penny, love your home :)
ReplyDeleteGoing to share your posts on twitter to let everyone know how beautiful it is too...
Happy Friday, thanks for linking up to the weekend blog hop :)
Very pretty! I spy some lovely fabrics and trims. So feminine and prairie. I do enjoy decorating and today I add a little vignette to a coffee table I just finished painting while I'm taking a break from cleaning up dust from a bigger project.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining the Say G'Day Saturday linky party. I just pinned your post. Those boots are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Best wishes,

Love it! So fun and welcoming. Have a great day, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteShabby Chic is so IN right now. Your decorating is so warm and welcoming. I was caught by surprise with how the wheel chair fit into the room so well and the cowboy boots. Metal, color, wood, lace .... combine it all and your room pops. Nice job!
