I made some changes in the hall bath today that some of you may think are a little crazy or maybe even a LOT crazy...lol! |
I used the space under the board to store some seldom....if ever....used items. |
The lamp on the little cabinet really adds some much needed light to the room..... |
I still am lovin' the wreath that has been on the wall for a couple of years, so I didn't change it out. |
I cut some flowers from the garden this afternoon to put on the vanity.... |
Do you know what the container is that I put them in? It's a vintage light cover.....I remember on of these being over my grandma's bathroom medicine cabinet. |
I added a bit of whimsey to my vignette my putting a stack of vintage gloves on the top shelf..... |
The second shelf has a vintage plastic kleenex box and a pretty pink clock.... |

Oh my goodness, I love the idea of the vintage light fixture as a vase.... I have to say.. I love a soaker tub so I would have never given that baby up...but, if it is not used why not... make a beautiful space.. Such beauty everywhere.. Have a great day! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't use the tub . . . then why not use it in a creative way :) I love those mirrors over your sinks.
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty, pretty.
Have a great week.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Oh My Gosh I have been wanting to do this for 10 years! Only problem is, our huge soaker tub has a raised outer ledge that goes all the way around it, and the faucet juts out at angle over one of the corners of the tub. I have thought about doing what you did (exactly!) but just didn't think it would work for our tub. Short of ripping it out I think I'm stuck! I'm so happy to see that you succeeded at this! Can't wait to see the Christmas tree:)

Hi Penny,
ReplyDeleteYou certainly were creative with your space. I think you had a great idea! why not reinvent the space you have. I can't wait to see your Christmas tree in this space.
I love your fresh flowers so pretty and the crochet dollies.
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
I LOVE that rug!!!! It is cute what you did but definitely have never seen anyone cover and hid a tub. I think you are first to do it!
ReplyDeletePenny,
ReplyDeleteI first saw this done many years ago on the Christopher Lowell show!! I LOVED that show!! He covered the tub the way you did but made it into a day bed type of seat by adding foam for the seat and to the back! We only have one tub and with both of our back problems , we both love to soak in a nice hot bath so unless we had a 3rd tub ( if we had a second one, one would be mine and one would be Joe's) then I could do this! But yippee for the idea of a tree at Christmas!! I have had one in each of my bathroom's for years!!
Hugs,
Deb
If you don't use it might as well lose it! Now you have the perfect little guest bathroom where a tub is not needed. Love this idea! Gorgeous decor!
ReplyDeletePerhaps your mother's piece is for the entrance and the side parts are for umbrellas?
ReplyDeleteI love it, I've also done this to our bathroom upstairs. We also never use the tub and I needed it for storage! Love your bathroom and looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove this Penny! Is there anything I haven't loved that you've done?? I think not!! My friend did this, but turned her's into a settee with back cushions and all, so much fun and underneath plenty of storage!!
ReplyDeleteExtra storage space is always a plus and I use every crook and cranny I can find and use it. This was pure genius.
ReplyDeleteWe only have one bathrub and shower..and I really want to do something nice and different so.... I keep checking in with you to see bathroom ideas..and even though we cannot give up a tub..I got such a kick out of your idea. A Christmas tree in the tub..why..heavens..WHY NOT?? :) You are just adorable..just like your decorating~!
Mona
Lovely as always! My first thought on your mothers table was umbrella's. Then I thought canes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
What a neat idea. I mean, as you said, it hasn't been used, why not just repurpose it for 'pretties' :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from Wake Up Wednesday!
Just amazing! You are so creative...very clever idea! Your bathroom is so lovely

Can't wait to see the Christmas version! <3
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! I did the same thing in our hall bath and it was great having the display and storage space in our extra bathroom. I can see by your style that you are a "maximalist." So am I.
ReplyDeleteYou know that I did that 30 years ago in a little place we had. It was to put a dresser on.....but same concept. I loved Ann's comment about a maximalist. Haven't heard that, but I like it!
ReplyDeletePenny, your ideas turned to pure charm! Love it all, so romamtic and just, oh so pretty! You are such a clever one with that tub decor!
ReplyDeleteWOW, que buena idea, yo tampoco uso mi bañera, y siempre he pensado que ahora es como un espacio muerto que podría aprovecharse, me has dado una idea genial. Gracias.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage...such a feminine appeal.
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from Friendship Friday
I agree with all of the I have never seen your "work" before and hope to see more
ReplyDeleteThat's what I want to do with our tub too! We never use it, and a place to sit would be nice.
ReplyDeleteOh, my...very feminine.
ReplyDeleteI like how you thought outside the box to get some useful display space out of an unused tub. Thanks for sharing. Hello from Flaunt it Friday.
ReplyDeleteI love how you thought outside the box. All the lace and cream is gorgeous! I would love to have you link it up to my Feature Friday Link Palooza!
