How to Repurpose a Vintage Meat Grinder

H has a collection of about a dozen vintage meat grinders that he has accumulated over the years.      When I saw some for sale at Hobby Lobby recently I asked H if I could "borrow a few" to use in my Farmhouse style decorating.     Of course he said yes.....what a sweetheart!

Now for some details about how I repurposed the meat grinders.

I attached a wood slice to one of them.......made a napkin holder out of the second one......

And I made a pumpkin holder out of the third one.

I put my meat grinders on the family room dining table and began to create a fall tablescape using them as the centerpiece.......

I turned the largest meat grinder upside down and sat it on a wood slice......

To make a shelf for my meat grinder,    I put a small wood slice in the vise part of it and screwed it down until I felt it was sturdy......

I decorated my wood slice shelf with an assortment of fabric pumpkins that I made......

I put a cute salt and pepper sheep couple,   little pumpkin,  and antlers on the big wood slice.

I used the medium size meat grinder to hold napkins......

I was able to tighten the screw on the handle to make it stand upright making a pocket between it and the grinder to hold the napkins.......

I sat my medium meat grinder on a small plate that matches the salad plates in the place settings........

See how my paper napkins are just wedged in between the handle and the grinder.......

I thought about putting a piece of wood in the vise on the smallest meat grinder,   but I didn't want it to look just like the large one.......

I decided to use the vise bottom like a shelf and placed two teeny pumpkins on it......

I turned the screw on the vise until the pumpkins weren't squashed but just lightly held in place.........

I sat my little meat grinder on a matching plate and added an antler.

The way I designed the largest meat grinder,    it resembles a tiered stand.......

Here is a close up of the place settings I used.......

I hope you got some inspiration on how to use your meat grinders in a different way by turning them upside down.

Til Next Time.......

  6. So clever. We had a meat grinder somewhere but we probably gave it away because I didn't know what to do with it. I love the silver metal on yours.
