DIY Beverage Bar from Repurposed Sleigh Bed

The new beverage / food bar that H made for the front porch will come in so handy when we entertain outdoors  this summer.

The sleigh bed he used to make the bar once belonged to our daughter    then she gave it to her  daughter when she got her first apartment.     Somebody sat on the footboard and broke the decorative post that went across it   Grand daughter still used it until someone jumped into bed and broke the rail.     And.....that's when we took it to use in a repurpose project.

It's been in the my sun room for several years and recently I created a new furniture arrangement in there and  it didn't fit in anymore.      I asked if any of the family wanted it.....no......so it got a make over and a new home on the front porch.

I made a centerpiece to put on the bar by filling a tackle box with some of the Bradford pear blooms from the trees in the front yard.

The trees are slowly turning from white blooms to beautiful green leaves.

I can't wait til we have a party on the porch and I can use my new bar......

I already have plans for a lemonade bar,     a tea bar     a taco bar.......and on and on!

Behind the white metal screen is the Bar B Q grill.     H just folds the screen back when he gets ready to cook.    Behind the screen you can see a glimpse of the pink china hutch that holds all the BBQ "stuff"

I found these huge ivy plants at Home Depot the other day.     When I have them hanging,   they are about 5 foot long!

I usually decorate the front porch for Easter,    but this has been a very busy spring for me and I may not do it this year.

The strong winds we had this past winter blew the bird houses off the porch posts you see in front of the umbrella.    They were pretty old and fell apart when they hit the ground.     Now I need to find something to put on the bare posts.     I have collected bird houses for years,   so all I need to do is shop the back yard!

I enjoy your visits so much,    please come back soon!

  3. Love your new bar, it is wonderful. I think I would love your house, as I am in the same boat. Keep up the great work. You should build your own bird house, I taught myself to do it, and the rewards are great and lots of fun....

  7. You definitely got your money's worth when you bought that sleigh bed! I see these from time-to-time at the thrift store. It never crossed my mind to build a bar out of one! You and your husband are so creative!

  8. I'm sorry about your bird houses, Penny! Love the Beverage Bar though! What a great way to upcycle something that could have ended up being thrown away. It looks beautiful, and what a great thing to have for entertaining. Thank you so much for your support of the Hearth and Soul Link Party.
