Christmas Cabinet

Our family room is my favorite room in the house to decorate for Christmas.      I've decorated the ledge behind the sofa,   the fireplace,   and now I have moved on to the small dining area in the family room.    I decorated the built in cabinet for Christmas first then I moved on to the dining table and will share it in an upcoming post

I thought you guys might enjoy a little history behind these gorgeous cabinets!

Our  home was custom built by a local builder here in Eastern New Mexico for his family.     When the builders  family moved out,    my parents bought his home and they had the mirrors and lights added to the cabinets     When H & I moved in,   the cabinet was a dark pine wood and one of the first things we did was paint the cabinets a soft white.

Now for a tour of my Christmas cabinet......

The cabinet is so big that I really have to try to restrain myself from putting too much decor in it.    The cabinet can look overfilled and cluttered when I do that.

Kerryanne designed some gorgeous images for the November Handmade kit.....and it is so easy to print them at home on my office printer.   Here's a link to her site where you will have an opportunity to order the November kit........https://www.shabbyartboutique.com/2021/11/the-handmade-club-november-kit.html

Now I'm just going to let you scroll down and enjoy the tour without all my jibber jabber....lol!

I've added a new element to the cabinet this year.     H ran me a cord to the ledge so I could have lights on the cabinets ledge

I decorated the ledge with a lit rag garland and placed sweet snowmen randomly across it     I bought several of these snowmen at Walmart and have generously scattered them around the family room.   You may remember seeing them hanging from the chandeliers on each side of the fireplace.   Here's a link to that post in case you missed it......http://penny-pennystreasures.blogspot.com/2021/11/snowmen-bring-christmas-cheer-to.html

To further illuminate the cabinet,    I put a white hob nail lamp on each end of the ledge.    Can you ever get too many lights at Christmas.....I don't think so....he hee!

Merry Christmas!

  1. The cabinet is decorated beautifully Penny the handmade prints are perfect without crowding your collectables (and wont need a heavy attic storage bin!). Love the way you added the prints to vintage wood shutter as a focal feature. I agree lighting is a key element of decor…enchanting twinkling lights make all your glass glitter! And without distracting electric cords and plugs showing anywhere! Please complement your hubby, it is a talent to run wires, timers switches etc while hiding them. Last year we found outlet plugs with wireless hand held on/off remotes…very handy for unpredictable daily schedules. Thank you for all your inspiration you make the effort to holiday decorate look fun & joyful!
