Shabby Chic Nativity

The Nativity is my favorite part of Christmas decorating.      I normally display store bought sets,  but this year I wanted to make my own with items that I have collected over the years and have special meaning.
I started with a plain brown Creche ...sorry I forgot to get a before photo.  H spray painted it with a silvery white paint.
I covered part of the roof with a piece of my favorite wide shimmery lace,   it's the same lace you have seen me use on the fireplace mantle.
The set of cherubs that are attached to the posts are made by House of Lloyd....1998 Christmas Around the World.    I hung a gold chandy to light the stable...added three white glittered trees.....two silver crosses....
Sheep,  angels,  and a gold/silver  Joseph, Mary ,  and baby Jesus.....

I glued silver architectural  pieces to the fence....
I set a gold tree topper over a vintage drip oil can...
On the left side is a gold and silver angle keeping watch over the baby.....
and on the right side is a gold and silver Mary holding the baby Jesus....
I really enjoyed making my own Nativity this year and have already started a second one!

  1. So pretty :) The Creche sets the stage perfectly well.

  2. I have a new name for what you do with things like this---they are Pennylicious! You can feel free to use that term. You're welcome!;>) xo Diana

  3. Adorable! Penny you always inspire me, the only problem is I have a hard time making up my mind on what to do first.....Smile.

  4. You a great inspiration for me, Penny! I love your own nativity, very beauitful and fairy in every single detail.
    The cherubs are adorable.

  5. This is stunning and so much inspiration!

  6. I've done NOTHING toward Christmas..not a card addressed..not a wreath hung, no stocking hung by the chimney with care. Nothing. Fall decor is still everywhere..Orange, orange, orange. You..are..putting me in the Christmas mood, Penny! Thank you. I needed all the pretties to shove me into at least planning and now I think of you every time I practice Silver and Gold. :) I'm practicing my Christmas music for Christmas. Giving that piano a work out..and poor PH probably wants to strangle me. It's all lovely. It ALWAYS is. You are so creative.

  7. I love your nativity. We collect nativity sets in my home but I really like the idea of "collecting" and nativity set from things already in my home.

  8. What a beautiful, sentimental Nativity set. Definitely helps capture the heart behind Christmas.

  9. How pretty, I love it! I like how you out together your own vintage look. :) I have similar looking cherubs tucked away from my wedding cake. :)

  10. Penny that is so beautiful and sweet! Love that you created this yourself with things you love. It's gorgeous! Thanks for linking up at Friday's Unfolded!

  11. Hello cute lady! Beautiful. Pinned. We really appreciate you taking the time to stop by our party. It wouldn't be a party without you. Please join us on Monday at 7 pm. Happy Saturday! Lou Lou Girls

  12. Penny, this is just beautiful! What a special nativity hand crafted by you!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  13. I don't know how you do everything you do
The little manger is so pretty all decorated up with your style of beauty
