Making a Canopy for my Wicker Swing

We have had this white wicker swing for more than ten years,  so I have had to replace the canopy several times.   In the past I have made several of the canopies from full size dust ruffles and also from sheets   but this year I wanted to do something different.

I thought a "rag strip" canopy might be fun,  so I cut lots of strips from yard sale sheets.

H had covered the original steel canopy frame with chicken wire several years ago.
I cut strips about 3" wide and 40" long....then I just tied bows around my chicken wire frame.     I also used a roll of green tulle that I cut in the same size strips.

The swing sits by  the new tea room,  so Kyleigh and I can have tea outside too.

H has gone over to our daughters home to help her do some yard work,   so I am going to have lunch in the shade of my new canopy cover and relax with a book.
Just tea and salad for lunch today......
I cut a bouquet of snow balls to make a centerpiece for my lunch.....
On the left you can see the canopy I made last year from a full size bedskirt.   I used the matching comforter on the swing.   I think I paid about $10 for the set at a yard sale.

I put a sweet chicken couple in my tea cart to carry on my chicken wire theme......lol!

  8. I agree! That is really creative. I thought it was just around the perimeter of the swing canopy..but I thing you must have tied those pretty stripes all over the top. It's lovely. I see that it provides shade..you didn't take a picture underneath the awning so I am just guessing that is how you did it. Those are two of my favorite colors together.

  13. Both the bed skirt and the rag strip ideas are brilliant. You have inspired some romantic porch settings on my back porch - unfortunately I have to bundle everything up at night and bring it in - too much dew too much rain. Enjoy! Happy Pink Saturday!
