Porch Makeover.....$5

We only went to a few yard sales on Saturday,  so I don't have much to show you this week.    But......what I do have is one of my best finds ever!

I found a complete set of bedroom decor for $5.    I was able to cut up the large comforter and make pads for both metal gliders and  pads for two wicker settee's.     I used the window valances and the bedskirt to make 4 table runners,  backs for one glider and one wicker settee and chair backs for my 4 black wrought iron chairs......  a round table cloth made pad covers for two white wicker chairs.....and there was one matching throw pillow.....all for $5!

I used part of the bedskirt to make my mantle cover.....two valances made the table runner and chair backs.....the comforter made seat pads for these two gliders.

There are two wicker settee's on this end of the porch......

The white rocker in the back ground is where I always sit....there is a similar one by it that H always sits in.

My $1 guitar case came from the same lady.    I made a runner for the desk from part of the bedskirt and cut three squares to add to my rag banner.      I still have a 6 foot piece of the skirt left to do something with.

The other half of the comforter made seat pad covers for these two wicker settee's.   A long valance made the runner for this coffee table and the one in front of the gliders.     H had to hook up the trailer to the car today......

Our daughter isn't going to use the roll away that I gave her a long time ago....so I brought it home.    I plan to repurpose it somehow.....

I love the new look.....this darker colors won't show dirt like the lighter colored fabric did.

   Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Well, you certainly made a $5 purchase cover a lot of 'places'! Good for you! Enjoy the new look! Blessings, Cindy

  2. Penny,
I love the black , pink and white color scheme!! It reminds me of my Powder Room!! You really got your $5.00 worth out of all that linen!! I envy you that you can keep that linen outside. We have been getting at least a shower every day and it seems that my cushions out on the front porch are always wet!! The humidity here is enough to cut with a knife and it was in the 90's yesterday, confining me to the inside of the house with the air conditioning blaring.....
8 more days to Part Time!!

    Hugs,
    Deb

  4. Great post, I love the contrast: reminds me of my Interior Decorating professor---she was old school all the way, but I have used this advice ever since 1970~~"Something dark, something light, something dull, something bright."~~ And you have just demonstrated how well this works with this post.

And sidenote: I never noticed the pink cabinet on the porch before, and now it pops out.

  6. Great reuse of all that fabric! Sheets are the only fabric that I use when redecorating the cushions in my Screened Room. Love that they don't shrink since I wash them so often. Great change Penny!

  15. To say that your front porch is lovely would be a complete understatement. If you ask me, it could pass for a small wedding venue. Well done with this project, and I'm looking forward to your planned improvements!
