Pulled Pork and Pink Pigs

Back a few weeks ago,  H repurposed a Duncan Phyfe table into a potting bench.

It has turned out to be a multipurpose table because today I am serving our dinner on it....lol!

I am serving pulled pork sandwiches,   so I have the table set with the cutest pink piggy paper plates that I found at TJ Maxx last week.

I brought out  my favorite ceramic pig from the house to be part of the centerpiece....... along with some fresh cut phlox from our garden.

We cooked three pork roasts in a turkey pan.     I used the first one to make BBQ pulled pork and put the individual servings in the freezer.

The second one will be put in the freezer for a family dinner with the kids.......pulled pork,  mashed potatoes and pork gravy..

The third one will be used for what I call savory pulled pork sandwiches.

I am serving  the savory pulled pork sandwiches today.    The meat is just seasoned with salt and pepper....topped with caramelized onions  and a drizzle of horseradish mustard.    All served on a wheat bolillo roll

What kind of salt did I use.....pink,  of course!

Here's another pink pig  nestled in the plants I have on a vintage handmade wooden haybarrow.

It has been pretty hot today and my sweet potato vine is wilted....it will perk back up when it cools down later this evening.

Do you find container gardening as versatile as I do?

I have fun moving my plants around the yard to create vignettes...... just like I do with my "pretties" in the house.

I have put several hanging  baskets on and around the wheel barrow to make my garden vignette look very lush.

Now all I need to do is bring a cold drink out and we are ready to eat.....

Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Penny,
Love the cute pigs!! It has been in the 90's here for the last 3 days. I have been stuck in the house with the air conditioning blaring. Poor Joe is dying out there though , walking and delivering the mail. At least , the people on his route are very kind and keep giving him bottled water...

    Hugs,
    Deb

  5. Penny,
I enjoyed reading this blog. Your theme is just so adorable and well thought out! Where on Earth did you find that cute pig on top of the table? I normally don't care about pigs but that is the cutest thing!!

I don't know about you, but I'm anxiously awaiting the Fall season as I always do. We are having 100 degree weather now.

    Hugs & Blessings,
    Sandi

You make up the cutest tables, and I love the plants cascading from the wagon so pretty, we bought those planters that cradle the deck rails last year and planted them this year and I do love having the pretty flowers to enjoy out there! That pork sandwich looks delicious, great idea to have the others frozen for when you need them!
