Fall Centerpiece

We just completed a redo on the guest bath and this shelving unit didn't fit into our new bath.      I decided to swap it out with the table that was in the hallway just outside the bathroom door.    That table went to the porch.....you know how the domino effect works don't you...lol!

I wanted to show you some close ups of the fall floral centerpiece  that I put on the new table in the hallway.

I painted one of my dried sunflowers white.    I was wondering if anyone had tried bleaching dried sunflowers....kinda like you do pine cones.   I may try that and see how they look.!

I left one sunflower in it's original dried state      There are cotton bolls in my arrangement......silk roses.......even a shabby white wooden rocker arms.      Add a few pumpkins and you've got a fall vignette.

Here is a close up of the stalks of  dried milo  (grain)  and a little white owl.

I displayed some of my  vintage crocheted pieces on the two shelves and even used the floor as a third shelf.

Here is how the shelving unit looked in the bathroom.           I used it to hold a collection of vintage Avon bottles.

Have you ever painted  a solid mahogany piece?   I had bleed thru all over the cabinet as you can see on the side panel.   The bleed thru is more pink than what it looks in the photo.       I thought about painting it with kilz and then another coat of cream,  but I really liked the way it looked,  so I left the mahogany bleeding thru.

  1. Domino's isn't that the truth---we are going to flip bedroom furniture when we redo the floors…yikes, I already know that will be a nightmare.

All the vintage crochet is beautiful in this cabinet…so much---my gosh, I'm drooling.

  9. Gorgeous center piece for the top, I have dried my sunflowers before to give the seeds to the birds but that's it. I love your collection of the crocheted pieces and the mahogany coming through gives it a great shabby chic look I think, I wouldn't do anymore to it!!
