Deep Cleaning the Kitchen

In addition to putting up a new back splash in the kitchen,    I have been doing what I call deep cleaning.     I like to move things out....clean under them.....clean them and start fresh.    Sometimes I move them back where they were and sometimes I don't.    In the case of this corner of the kitchen,  most of the things did not return to where they were....lol!

The stained glass piece was the only thing that did not get moved,   but I did remove everything on it and give it a really good cleaning.    I had greenery and a bird nest in the 'box' at the bottom of the stained glass piece.
I took all of it out....cleaned it....and put it away to use another time.    I put a ceramic bunny plate in its place and tucked a cabbage pick on each side of the plate.  I found these sweet picks at Michaels in their new spring  floral decor  the other day.   I loved the small cabbages and thought they would be a perfect addition to my spring decorating.

I removed the shutters that were below the stained glass piece to let more light into the kitchen.   I have plans for them in another area of the house.
I had a bench in front of the shutters that was moved to the bedroom.   I replaced the bench with my vintage metal rolling cart that I had moved out from another area of the kitchen as I did more deep cleaning.

You may remember my ladder being on the other side of the window.    I moved it to the other side of the window.     I took all the dried flowers that were hanging on it and packed them away to use another time.   I hung a few pieces of crochet on the ladder and tied a simple white wreath to the front of it.

I replaced the ladder with one of my favorite decorating pieces......a framed picture made from china cups and saucers.   I bought this piece on a trip to New York many years ago and I have never put it away.   I may move it,  but it's always being used somewhere!    Oops,   the photo of that picture is in the next photo....lol!
Below the picture I have fluffed up a plain chair by adding a vintage flour sack to the back and pieces of crochet on the seat.    The piece on the front is a crocheted apron.

Here's a clear photo of my china cup and saucer picture.

In the left side of the photo you can see some of the new decor that I have on the pass thru between the kitchen and family room.    I can't wait to share more changes in the kitchen ....be back soon!

  8. I love how you put things together Penny. Everything always looks so pretty and feminine and I'm loving that tea cup art of yours, it's so different and fits in with the rest of your treasures beautifully.

  9. You have such an inviting kitchen! I really need to deep clean mine, too. I'm sure there are dust bunnies on top of the cabinets... I'm 5'2", and they're way too high for me to reach. Job for the hubby, perhaps? :)
