How I Made a Large Custom Rug for under $100

My family living room is pretty big and I have been searching for a large area rug for it for quite a while.     Large area rugs are pricey and most of them are patterned and I wanted a solid  rug.

I have been  "making do"  with a small white rug as you can see in the first photo.    The second photo shows a little bit of the new rug I put in the dining area.
It's not exactly the same as the one in the family are as  I wanted a little darker rug under the table where we eat all the time   (won't show spots as much as a lighter rug)

I started with just one rug as you can see in the first photo,     but I went back and bought a second rug to add to it.

I found my rugs at Ross for $45 each

I learned how to join rugs on HGTV.        Here's a link to it .......https://www.hgtv.com/design/make-and-celebrate/handmade/how-to-make-one-large-custom-area-rug-from-several-small-ones

Here's the option we chose to join our rugs using duct tape.......

I am so pleased with the result!

I always enjoy a visit from you guys.......come back soon!

  2. Penny, If you get any smarter we won't know what to do with all these great ideas.
Joining the rugs is so creative and thrifty. Wow, you could take a 5' x 7 ' and put runners around the outside too to make a contrasting border too. This idea is endless.
    Thanks again.
