Pink Chalkboard Paint

Another section of kitchen cabinets are finished.....about half of the kitchen is done now!   It is a big job,  but the results are soooo worth all the hard work.

You can see a peek of the first section of cabinets that we did on the left side of the photo.    I didn't want all the insides of the cabinets to match,  so I decided to use pink chalkboard paint on the next section

We have used the cabinet that is closest to the sink for our coffee supplies ever since we have lived here.    H also stores his prescriptions in this cabinet   .....he is on lots of medicine since his heart valve replacement.    I thought it would be nice for him to have a chalkboard to keep track of Dr appts and other things.
I hung a braided fabric rope and pretty clothes pins to the upper part of the door,   easy to clip a party invitation or some other paper to remind you of an event that you don't want to forget.

I couldn't find any pink chalkboard paint,  so I decided to make my own.    Very simple ....just mix your chalkboard paint with a little pink color.    It took about 2/3 of this big bottle to do the 4 cabinet doors and  about 1/4 of the Think Pink paint.

The next set of cabinets contain dishes

H organized the electrical wires that you see in the before photo.   The wires go to the under cabinet lights.

I have "everyday" dishes on the first shelf,

"Family dinner" dishes are on the middle shelf .   It is the only set of service for 16 that I have....bought them about 15 years ago....just inexpensive ironstone.

And the top shelf has paper plates and a set of Magnolia dishes that I sometimes use for special occasions.

H organized the electrical wire in this cabinet as well,  and I filled those shelves with dishes that I seldom use.

I am so pleased with the progress!

We had a little excitement yesterday.....a gas leak.   When H called it in,   they said to get out of the house.   We got in the car and parked across the street at our neighbors house.  I had my camera in the car and sat there and took photos of the "excitement".     There was a broken line and it took most of the day to get it fixed.    I was so pleased with the response time and the way everything was handled.   Thank you City of Clovis employees,  Denton Heating,  and New Mexico Gas Company!

The lower cabinets below the stove are horrible.......that is the original shelf paper from  when the house was built many years ago.    I had an electric skillet on the top shelf and every time I drug it out the black feet left skid marks.....lol!

H has almost finished this section  and I can't wait to show you how it looks now!

  2. You are doing an amazing job on your kitchen. Never would have thought of doing the insides of the cabinet doors. You are correct, it is a job redoing, but worth in the long run. I need to be doing some of that.

  4. I think your pink chalkboard paint is ingenious! I think it's the perfect color...especially for you! I know the troubles and hazards of winter. Here in New England we have a record snow fall this year and a neighboring city had a gas leak that lasted for almost 2 days! I also know what it's like to have "troubled" lower cabinets. I can't wait to see what you have done. I need some inspiration!

  8. What a great idea with the chalk paint. I love your kitchen. It is so pretty. I painted in my cupboards last fall. It was a big job but worth the effort. I have not been home all winter so when I return this Spring, I will enjoy it.

  11. I'm kind of jealous of the New Mexico Gas Co. and Denton Heating, etc. ...I would have fixed your gas leak had you called me, just so I could get an up close and personal look at the inside of your home. Aren't the pictures enough?
NO! Heavens NO! :) Love the pink chalkboards...how clever! I was checking out all the tiny Easter touches.... (I've GOT to get busy on my Easter decor instead of living vicariously through you! LOL
